3D Printed balace game... 3D design is hard

14/04/2026

Match and Stack

Still a complete beginner when it comes to 3D modelling and design. Can't believe such a simple game took so many days and so much trial and error...

But I saw this project online encouraging 3D printed items for children in hospital. So I thought, this is such a meaningful act, why not give it a go and take this opportunity to hone this skill?

Game Rules

Objective:

Be the first player to successfully place all of your pieces onto the wobbling base.

To start:

  • Starting Hands: each player drafts 7 pieces
  • The Foundation: Once hands are drafted, the last player to draft picks one final piece from the Reserve and places it dead-center on the wobble base. This is the starting piece.

Core Gameplay

On your turn, you must stack one piece from your hand onto the wobbling structure.

The Matching Rule: You cannot just place any piece you want. The piece you play must match either the Color or the Shape of the last piece placed on the structure.

If You Cannot Play (The Penalty Draw): If you don't have a matching piece (or don't want to risk playing one), you must draw a piece from the Reserve. Because a free choice would be too easy, the player to your left chooses which piece you must take from the Reserve. This adds a fun, cutthroat element where opponents will deliberately hand you the hardest shapes to balance! Once you draw, your turn ends.

The Topple (When Things Go Wrong)

  • If the structure falls—or even if a few pieces slide off—during your turn or immediately after you pull your hand away, you trigger a Topple.
  • The Penalty: You must collect all the pieces that fell off the base and add them to your hand.
  • The piece that remained on the base (or the base itself, if completely cleared) becomes the new starting point. You choose one piece from your newly expanded hand to place as the new foundation, and the next player continues.

Winning the Game

  • "Wobble" Warning: When you are down to exactly one piece, you must announce "Wobble!" before your turn ends. If another player catches you forgetting before the next player goes, you must draw a penalty piece from the Reserve.
  • Victory: The first player to successfully place their final piece and remove their hand without causing a Topple wins the game.

To Print 🖨️

  • the base x1
  • the gamepieces (the entire stl file = 1 color). print using 4-5 different colors (4 would suffice for beginners/children/under 4 players), add more colors if there are more players
